Supporting me creating 3D models, Dioramas, Cosplay props and tabletop props.
Introduction to Th3Dprinting
3D printing started as a Hobby that I had my eyes on for a long long time. It was always about not only seeing objects come to life but also the ability to create something that I was thinking of. So it didn’t take long for me to go from a 3D printer to modelling stuff and print them:)
As I got into 3D printing I started printing models that many already know, Wekster’s minis. But I wanted to add something to them, so I started adding props, making bases and soon I was creating more complex dioramas for the Minis.
Some in the community liked my dioramas and I started to share them on MyMinifactory. It pretty soon became something I really enjoyed doing and making more and more dioramas. At one point doing 4 new dioramas per month.
I not only wanted to make the models, but I wanted to make sure they were simple to print, and would print well but also that I could show how combining 3D printing with other tools, people could achieve even more interesting results. So I was also painting and adding details to all the dioramas.
As you may understand there’s a considerable investment of, equipment, time and money into, test print all the models, paint and photograph the models. So Patreon was a good way of not only supporting my hobby but to allow for those that enjoyed my work to support me. In return, I would continue to produce these models and give my Patrons these models.
As my modelling and 3d printing experience improve I’ve now started to do also other stuff besides dioramas. I’ve started modelling several props for cosplay or display - I always loved seeing the weapons some artists created and wanted to do some of them. Creating Dioramas also means adding props and scenery and that was easily translated into tabletop props.
What’s Patreon
Simply put Patreon is a membership platform that allows creators like me to provide a subscription-based system for people that enjoy my work and want to support me.
You pay a monthly subscription based on the available tiers - There are different levels of subscriptions starting at $1. You can cancel your subscription at any point so no long term commitments.
What do I get for being your Patron?
First and above all, you get my unconditional thank you for your support! Without my Patrons, I wouldn’t be able to do as many models as I do and to keep doing all the fun stuff I do. I didn't create Patreon just for the “STL files” and that's not my main goal, I hope it stands for more than that so you get a lot more
Depending on your subscription tier you can get access to different models but all tiers also get access to my Patron-exclusive Discord server. The discord server allows an even closer communication, sharing work in progress, ideas, and also seeing what other Patrons are doing.
Being a Patron you have access to the models I make but also access to exclusive models, that aren’t sold anywhere else.
Since I like having fun there are also competitions exclusive to Patrons and also discounts that brands sometimes offer to my Patrons.
I’m always looking at new things to do and how to make it more interesting and fun to be a Patron so you will never feel like there’s nothing happening:)
I’ve released more than 100 models for my patrons and I hope I will be releasing many more during the upcoming months.
How much does it cost?
Well, I know money doesn’t come cheap, so the tiers available on Patreon are made so that if you want to support my work you can do so without breaking the bank. You can see the list of tiers and the rewards here: https://www.patreon.com/The3dPrinting?fan_landing=true
Anything else I need to know about your Patreon?
Yeah, there’s a lot more! I keep my Patrons busy with new models, but also with updated, WIPS - work in progress, with new Patron-exclusive competitions every month and always chatting on the discord server. I regularly publish work from my Patrons and the community on my blog and there’s always new stuff coming along.
I hope that my Patreon is a membership that can allow everyone to have fun and be part of the 3D printing community and have a blast at printing, painting and whatever else they enjoy doing.
Please don’t hesitate to ask me before joining my Patreon. I’m always available to answer any questions.
Cheers,
